The »nice« in-flight entertainment system by Lufthansa Technik AG is installed in over 1,000 VIP and business jet planes worldwide. For the market-leader, we developed a new product microsite that clearly stands out from the competition and underscores the technical excellence of the system in an unmistakable way.
For the current generation of the »nice« system, a pool of suitable images and copy had not yet been set up. This meant a key part of our work consisted of creating content. We first drew up an overall concept, including a subsequent content strategy. Afterwards, we produced a range of elaborate renderings and image compositions based on the existing CAD data.
A soft experience – with React.js
»nice« stands for a strong industry and user experience design alike, among others. We wanted to communicate this strength subtly through an elegant and seamless user interface design. So, we discussed various tools and development methods before honing in on a leading web framework: the React open-source JavaScript library, developed by Facebook.
We had leveraged React Native for previous app development projects and so we decided to follow suite with numerous renowned companies like Tesla*, Netflix** and Airbnb*** for this project.
Design, review, repeat
Getting just the right look was one of the main challenges of this project. »nice« embodies ease of use, and this USP should be subtly communicated through the design, too. Our answer was the development of a purist, technological and confident style – over the course of numerous design and review phases – which represented the current generation of the »nice« system.
Detailed animations
We embedded various interactive modules, spread across the entire website, to tell an impressive product story.
Together with our copywriters in Berlin, we developed a story that explains the IFE & CMS System product story in a very unique way – without overwhelming the user with an overflow of technical details and feature sets. Instead, we offered visitors a comfortable experience diving into the technical possibilities and innovations of the latest product generation of the »nice« system.
“This microsite exceeds all our expectations and was developed much faster than at a big agency.”
